What is it about?

Rural biodiversity is the backbone of resilient ecosystems, food security, and climate mitigation. Yet, it faces unprecedented threats from habitat loss, soil degradation, and fragmented landscapes. Today, technology is unlocking new ways to protect and restore nature. AI-powered mapping, precision farming, drones, and smart sensors reveal patterns in soil, water, and wildlife that were once invisible. When these innovations are combined with ecological knowledge, they enable smarter land management, new business models for regeneration, and scalable solutions that make biodiversity restoration both practical and profitable.

Building on this potential, the ReWild the Future Challenge invites students from around the world to design innovative, technology-enabled, and ecologically grounded solutions that enhance rural biodiversity. Participants are encouraged to combine science, creativity, and entrepreneurship to develop ideas that are not only visionary but also scalable and market-ready—supported by prototypes, solid business models, and a passion for tangible, real-world impact. The ReWild the Future Challenge is more than a competition—it’s a movement to rethink how we protect and enhance rural biodiversity.
